NRC at the International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR)
Nokia Research Center (NRC) is presenting three of its latest augmented reality demonstrations and two augmented reality papers at the International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) in Orlando, Florida October 19-22.
Researchers from NRC Palo Alto and Stanford University will present the paper 'Streaming Mobile Augmented Reality on Mobile Phones', and provide examples of the streaming mobile augmented reality application with a demonstration which identifies books, CD's and DVD's in real-time through a mobile device's video camera; without the need to pause to look up or search for information. Nokia Research Center presents "Smart-M3" open source platform
Nokia Research Center (NRC) will be presenting the "Smart-M3" open source platform at the NoTA Conference Sept 30 - Oct 1, San Jose. Smart-M3 is a new functional software platform developed by NRC Helsinki in partnership with SOFIA and the Devices and Interoperability Ecosystem project - DIEM). It allows multiple applications from multiple vendors to share ad-hoc information across numerous domains, enabling cross domain and cross platform interoperability. Read more
Mobile Programming Course for EPFL Students
Nokia Research Center is launching a free Qt crash course for the EPFL students this semester.
The objective of this mobile programming course is is to harness creativity and build the students' passion for innovation through Qt technology. Nokia aims at reinforcing the already existing EPFL-NRC collaboration by offering the students the opportunity to develop their skills and creativity in order to match future excpectations for projects and opportunities NRC Lausanne will offer. Moving from the lab to production: Nokia trials first LTE modem
Nokia today introduced its first ever Long Term Evolution (LTE) capable internet modem, which is based on Nokia's own LTE modem technology development. Started as a Nokia Research Center mobile broadband program, the Nokia Internet Modem RD-3 announced today is the end result of years of LTE research.Read more
