As part of Nokia Research Center Media Technologies Lab, the team in Bangalore works on novel imaging technologies and spatial audio as focused research areas. Our university partners include MIT Media Laboratory (Cambridge, US), Indian Institute of Technology (Mumbai) and National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad and Bangalore).

Beijing offers an ideal location for NRC to take advantage of China's fast growing economy and the world's largest mobile market. Nokia Research Center concentrates on media technologies, e.g., pattern recognition for multimedia applications, and radio technologies. Our collaborators include Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), University of Science and Technology China (USTC), Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication (BUPT) and Beihang University.

The location of NRC Berkeley, two blocks west of the UC Berkeley campus, is inspired by both the city and university reputations of being forward-thinking and innovative while maintaining a steady eye on the societal impacts of progress. NRC Berkeley focuses research efforts on novel radio technologies, in collaboration with UC Berkeley.

Located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of London, the NRC Cambridge, UK laboratory is located on the campus of the University of Cambridge. Collaborating deeply with the university, NRC Cambridge UK develops nanotechnologies, advanced sensors and quantum technologies for mobile communication. Studying physical, chemical and biological phenomena and manipulation of matter at the nanoscale enables generation of knowledge for enhancing human capabilities.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, NRC Nairobi focuses on understanding the unique needs of the African mobile phone user and creates concepts and visions to fulfill these needs. NRC Nairobi is working with University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Cape Town (South Africa), and Grameen Foundation to solve the unique African language, cultural, educational and infrastructure challenges that can all be improved through mobile technologies.

Located at the Open Innovation House on the campus of Aalto University, Nokia Research Center in Otaniemi focuses on research topics on radio technologies, media technologies and interaction technologies as well as sensor systems for mobile devices. Our key collaborators are Aalto University, University of Helsinki, VTT and EIT ICT Labs.

Nokia Research Center's team in Sunnyvale is focused on research into novel imaging technologies, in particular computational photography. Our collaborators include MIT Media Laboratory and Stanford University.

Located about 175 kilometers north of Helsinki, Tampere is the third largest city in Finland and Nokia Research Center is located about ten kilometers from the city center. Nokia Research Center in Tampere carries out research in media technologies, including audio and visual technologies, contextual media systems and novel user interface technologies, as well as novel radio technologies. Our key collaborators are Tampere University of Technology and University of Tampere.
