Home > Nokia Research Center (NRC) and CEA-LETI present "Explore and Share" technology at Nokia World

Nokia Research Center (NRC) in partnership with CEA-LETI is presenting the "Explore and Share" technology at Nokia World in Stuttgart on 2-3 September 2009. Explore and Share enables a new way of selling and delivering services at retail. The demonstration at Nokia World showcases how a consumer can download Nokia content like music or videos into a device easily with this novel technology.

Explore and Share is a new ultra low power local radio technology that enables an ultra fast and wireless transfer of content from a retail sales writer to a mobile device. The technology forms a secure short-range connection between the writer and device and does not utilize any other radio networks. Pairing of the devices happens seamlessly and in a very short time. To give an example of the performance the technology allows one to download a full MP3 music album just in 10 seconds to a mobile device.

NRC and CEA-LETI have had long research partnership collaboration. Explore and Share technology research was started in MINAmI EU integrated project and the demonstrator is developed as co-creation between the project partners. Further development has taken place in close cooperation between Nokia, CEA-LETI and other collaborators.

Nokia Research Center (NRC) explores technology frontiers, solving scientific challenges today, for Nokia to deliver irresistible personal experiences tomorrow. To fulfill its mission, NRC leverages a global open innovation network of research collaborations with universities, research institutes and other technology companies. At present NRC has research framework agreement with twelve leading universities across the world. For more information, visit http://research.nokia.com.
