Environmental phone concept, Nokia Eco Sensor Concept

Date:
12/07/2007

NRC recently initiated a project for a futuristic mobile phone concept with an aim to initiate public discussion around environmentally sustainable R&D. Says Petra Söderling, Head of Marketing for NRC: "Our first objective was to get discussion going around the various aspects and numerous components one needs to consider when designing an environmentally sound product. Just looking at recycled materials or a novel energy source alone is not enough. This concept addresses power consumption, alternative energy sources, printed electronics, novel screen technologies, ecological sensors coupled with internet service scenarios - all in one concept." The concept was first introduced in Nokia World, Amsterdam on December 4-5, 2007. "We also wanted to bring forward the notion of how the many R&D efforts within Nokia are driving towards more ecological products, and more sustainable way of manufacturing mobile phones".
