In the spirit of Open Innovation and to further promote the exchange of ideas, expertise and resources, Nokia Research Center Helsinki and Tampere launched a Call for Proposals on June 5th 2009. The deadline for submission of proposals is now extended to 16:00 GMT on August 31st 2009. The process as well as Terms and Conditions are now simplified, with the requirement of submitting only a 5-page proposal and a signed copy of the Declaration of Acceptance of the "Updated Terms and Conditions". Please note, that Nokia may invite participants to supply additional technical information and/or other details, if deemed necessary to consider the merits of the proposal. Such additional information may be submitted at the relevant Participant’s and Institution’s discretion, under mutually agreed non-disclosure and other terms.
Academic research groups are invited to submit project ideas related to the Research Areas of this call. The best proposals will be funded by Nokia. A funded project may, for example, be a one to two year project with one to three researchers. Multiscientific projects are welcome. Various topics are presented in both of the Research Areas documents that correlate to our Helsinki and Tampere Research Centers.
Evaluation of the proposals are done by our research leads and based on:
- Foreseen potential of the idea (e.g. for industrial disruptions)
- Alignment with Nokia’s research strategy and interests
- Novelty
- Suitability for close collaboration mode with NRC
- Potential for academic recognition, publications
Please review the updated Terms and Conditions below before submitting any proposals. All proposals should adhere to our Submission Guideline and should be submitted by 16:00 GMT on August 31st. Email proposals to nrc.cfp@nokia.com with a signed acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions (declaration of acceptance included in the last page of the Updated Terms and Conditions document below). All proposals will receive feedback by the end of September, 2009.
