NRC Nairobi Team Pic



NRC Nairobi is currently 17 African researchers from variety of disciplines: Economy, Social sciences, design and engineering. Researchers identify and study areas where mobile communication technology could have greatest social impact. These areas are for example: Grassroots economy: micro entrepreneurs and informal banking. Demographics: urbanization, youth and population growth. Culture and localities: informal music industry, oral culture and storytelling. Democratic processes: access to relevant information, elections, anticorruption.

NRC Nairobi is developing mobile solutions which are based on African strengths and traditions to fit well to challenging economical environment and the rich cultural and ethnic environment. NRC Nairobi highlights the significance of the development of strong African R&D ecosystem, which is able to develop truly African solutions. NRC Nairobi operates a lot with local universities, start-up companies and independent developers.
