I joined Nokia Research Center in November 2006. I'm currently working as a principal scientist at NRC Palo Alto.
Prior to the current position I have had various interesting tasks in Nokia - starting from 1995, when I joined Wireless Data unit in Tampere, Finland. I was then involved in development of fax (and other) communication protocol software for Nokia's first communicator product: Nokia 9000 Communicator. My career then continued with communicators. In Nokia 9210 Communicator project I served the software R&D team as project manager for PDA SW (=”Most of the Symbian OS based software. The stuff you see on Communicator’s big screen” ;-) During this very educational time period I e.g. closely witnessed the birth of Symbian Ltd.
After 9210 I continued in Nokia Enterprise Solutions Mobile Device unit (ES MDU) leading a small, but effective, team of software architects responsible for software architecture management activities for ES MDU’s Symbian OS -based devices. In the beginning of 2005 “the nature called” for tasks which would involve even more personal innovation and I joined Nokia S60 Platform’s Architecture & Technology team. There I took part on studies related to platform evolution and application development productivity.
