Klaus Franz Doppler

I am with the Optimized Local Access group in the cognitive radio focus area at NRC Helsinki Lab. I joined NRC in 2002 and I have been working in research related to future radio systems since then. In 2008/2009 I was among the top 10 inventors of Nokia with 25 patentable inventions and in I received a Nokia Inventor of the Year award with 19 patentable inventions in 2007/2008.
In recent years I have been leading and contributing to research activities on the design and integration of novel radio concepts into cellular systems, including device-to-device communication, (cooperative) relaying and multiband operation. Next to my work at NRC I have been involved in two European research projects. I have been the proof-of-concept subtask leader within the relaying task of WINNER II and I have been leading the device-to-device communication and network coding task within WINNER+.
Very recently on May 22, 2010 I have defended my PhD thesis at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland and in 2003 I received my Dipl. Ing. in Electrical Engineering from Graz University of Technology, Austria.

I am generally interested in novel radio concepts and its integration into cellular systems. In particular I am interested in

- Signal processing
- Local area networks
- Supporting business models
and I am familiar with a diverse set of radio standards, including LTE, WiMAX, GSM/EDGE, W-CDMA, WLAN and Bluetooth.
