I joined Nokia in 1999 just after I received my doctor degree in signal and information processing from   University of Science and Technology of China   (USTC). Currently I am leading the research team of multimodal and multimedia user interactions in Nokia Research Center (NRC) Beijing laboratory. Meanwhile, I also work as a NRC project leader for pushing the NRC global project: Gestural UI 

Professional Activities

I am an adjunct professor of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication (BUPT), and I am also a board member of Association of Chinese Image and Graphics.

Research Interests

My Research Interests mainly include image recognition and processing, pattern recognition, and related multimodal user interfaces

Research Projects

Since 1999, I have participated in and managed quite a lot of NRC projects focusing on various research topics:

  • Pen UI and handwriting
  • Optical scanning
  • Image tagging and sorting by human face
  • Sensor technologies and multimodalities
  • Gestural UI and handgesture tracking and recognition technology

Based on the concrete deliverables from the projects, I was honered with four NRC achievement awards, five NRC breakthrough awards, and 2009 Nokia value award - passion for innovation granted by Nokia CEO.
