Background
From beginning of 2007, I am working as Principal Scientist in Systems Research Center at Nokia Research Center in Helsinki (Finland).
I started with Nokia Research Center in March 2003 as Materials Specialist (Electronics lab./Mechanics & Materials). In the beginning of 2004, I got the task to rebuild and strengthen the Materials research in NRC, and from July 2004 as Research Manager in Multimedia technologies lab./Mechanics & Integration CA, I have been responsible for the multidisciplinary Materials research team with 9 specialists (5 in Helsinki, 4 in Tokyo). Our team has studied novel materials including plastics, metals, textiles, biomaterials, multi-material systems, as well as alternative energy sources and electronics-mechanics integration for future mobile devices.
Before joining Nokia (in 1996-2003), I was working as R&D Manager at NK Cables (earlier Nokia Cables). As Materials specialist and Head of the Materials Development I participated the R&D projects of several product areas (fibre optics, mobile network, telecom & data cables). In addition, I coordinated the R&D work of the fast growing RF cables business unit and acted as Project Manager in an international R&D project developing a novel plastics extrusion technology for telecom applications.
During 1990-1996, as Research Scientist & Project Manager at Helsinki University of Technology/Lab. of Polymer Technology, I did research on polymer materials with the main focus on tailoring properties and processing of high-performance engineering polymers and polymer blends.

- earlier football;
- when I was young also tennis, ice-hockey & basketball;
- nowadays mostly roller-skating, jogging & ball games randomly
- Taste of good wine and food -- mastered by my wife
- Traveling & getting to know other cultures
- Walking in the woods
