As the Research Planning Manager for NRC Growth Economies Lab (NRC GEL), Marshall is responsible for leading the strategy efforts in the growth economies region (Africa, China and India).  From developing the NRC GEL strategy, to following key market and technology trends and offering holistic solutions for operational efficiency, Marshall plays a key role with helping NRC and Nokia to position itself for future disruptions and success in the growth economies.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Marshall moved to Beijing after graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in East Asian Studies with a concentration in China.  He attended the prestigious Mandarin language program, Inter University Program (IUP) at Tsinghua University and then started his career in sales and marketing.  

His rich experience ranges from high volume advertising sales, to import and export distribution sales, business development, strategy, branding and general management.  He has a strong track record of generating exponential growth and has led teams of 10 to a company of 50.  His strong drive, innovative ideas and entrepreneurial thinking brings a unique perspective to NRC GEL.

Marshall has been living in Beijing, China since 2002 and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Personal Information

Marshall is happily married, treats his Sharpei like his own child and also has six five goldfish.

He is also involved with charitable fundraising events for local Chinese orphanages, enjoys cooking, golf, photography, outdoor activities, reading, singing and just hanging out.
