I am a Research Leader at the Nokia Research Center (NRC) in Helsinki, Finland, and a member of Nokia's CEO Technology Council. I am also affiliated with the School of Computer and Communication Sciences (I&C) at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, as an Assistant Professor. From 2007-2008, I was the director of the Internet Laboratory at NRC. From 1998 to 2002, I was a member of the Networking and Distributed Systems Laboratory at AT&T Labs - Research. My research interests are in mobile and wireless networking, social and complex networks, and network traffic measurement and modeling.

I have received the Diplôme d'Ingénieur en Systèmes de Communication from EPFL in 1994, the M.Sc. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, in 1994, and the Ph.D. from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6) in 1998. I did most of my thesis work at INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France. I have received the 1998 Cor Baayen Award from the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM), the IEEE INFOCOM 2001 Best Paper Award, and the 2006 CoNEXT Rising Star Award.
