Miska Hannuksela

Background:

I have been with Nokia since 1996 in different positions in the Research Center, Mobile Phones and Mobile Software. I am currently a Research Leader of Media Systems and Transport team in Nokia Research Center. I have more than 10 years of experience in video compression and multimedia communication systems. I have been an active delegate in international standardization organizations, such as the Joint Video Team (JVT), the Digital Video Broadcasting Project (DVB), and the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Research Interests:

  • Scalable, error-resilient and multi-view video coding
  • Real-time multimedia transport (RTP, H.324, MPEG-2 Systems)
  • Multimedia file formats (especially derivates of ISO base media file format)
  • Multimedia communication systems (3GPP/3GPP2 streaming, video telephony, messaging, and broadcast specifications. IP data casting service over DVB-H. Real-time multimedia streaming over WLAN)
  • Subjective quality of audio-visual services
  • Multimedia applications and application programming interfaces for handheld devices
