Panu Vartiainen

Senior Engineer
Helsinki

Background

I work as a Senior Engineer for Nokia Beta Labs and its internal counterpart in Helsinki, taking care of technical operation of two community websites, and specializing in application delivery to mobile devices.

I first joined Nokia Research Center as a trainee in 2000, and have been working there full-time since 2002. I got my MSc in Computer Science from University of Helsinki in 2003. I work most of the time at my home office in the Finnish countryside, so I have a hands-on experience with remote and mobile work. I have done research related to mobile metadata and context information, mobile collaboration, mobile search and mobile office applications.

Personal Information

I'm married for over 10 years, and I have three daughters and a son. I enjoy walking in the nature, swimming, singing solo and in a choir, playing the guitar, and taking part in the activities of my local church.
