Background
Panu Vartiainen works as a Research Engineer in Nokia Research Center Helsinki. He first joined NRC as a trainee in 2000, and has been working there full-time since 2002. He got his MSc in Computer Science from University of Helsinki in 2003. He works most of the time at his home office in the Finnish countryside, so he has a hands-on experience with remote and mobile work. He has done research related to mobile metadata and context information, mobile collaboration, mobile search and mobile office applications.

Personal life
Panu has a wife, a 2-year-old daughter, and a dog. He enjoys walking in the nature, swimming, singing solo and in a choir, playing the guitar, and taking part in the activities of his local church.
