Background and Personal Info

I joined Nokia Research Center in year 2000. My initial research has been mainly in the area of the smart/digital home and ubiquitous computing domains, focusing on content sharing and Internet technologies, in many different internal and external projects (e.g. IST Future Home, Celtic Encompas and Celtic Feel@Home).

Since the beginning of 2009 my research focus has been expanded towards location based services and Mobile Mixed Reality, mainly lifelogging, augmented reality and mirror worlds. I am currently leading the "Mixed Reality Web Service Platform (MRS-WS)" research and development, which provides the core backend infrastructure and mash-up APIs for some of our Mixed Reality applications & services. Two solutions we built with this platform are the Nokia Image Space and City Scene, while part of the research work was transferred to NAVTEQ and is powering the JourneyView web service.

I am currently a Principal Researcher in the "Mixed Reality Solutions" team of the Tampere Laboratory, located in Finland.

I am also lecturing at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) the post-graduate level course titled "SGN-5226: Content Sharing Technologies and Services".
