Teemu Ahmaniemi

Principal Scientist
Helsinki, Finland

I joined NRC 1999 after completing master degree in Tampere University of Technology and working two years in biomedial engineering industry. The first years in Nokia I was busy with speech, audio and music releated research topics together with my secondary studies in Tampere Concervatory. Then, I shifted my research topic more into interaction research and started my post graduate studies in Helsinki University of Technology. Recently, I have been concentrating on tactile and audio feedback in touch and gesture interfaces. Key challenges in the work are related to perception of continuous feedback and its influence in the whole interaction process. Most of the work is conducted in collaboration with universities in Helsinki and Tampere.

Research Interests

  • Tactile and deformable interfaces
  • Gesture interaction
  • Haptic and audio feedback
  • Human motor control and learning
