Ville Hermanni Tuulos
Member of Research StaffData Insight, NRC Palo Alto
Background
Before joining NRC Palo Alto in 2007, I worked with the Complex Systems Computation (CoSCo) research group at the University of Helsinki, Department of Computer Science / HIIT. My main research topics were, and still are, scalable systems, cluster computing, statistical information retrieval (search engines), and general data mining and modelling. For more details, check out my external homepage.
Mobile Python book
I wrote an introductory book about Python for S60 with Jurgen Scheible, called Mobile Python - Rapid Prototyping of Applications on the Mobile Platform. After reading the book, you will know how to turn your mobile phone to an artistic tool, web server, or a robot brain!
Open-source projects
Most of my work has been related to the following projects which are available as open-source:
- Aino - a content based search engine
- Disco - an implementation of the Map/Reduce framework for distributed computing
- Ringo - a fault-tolerant, replicating key-value storage
Publications
My publications are listed on the CoSCo group's publications page.
