I am a Research Scientist in the Context, Content and Community team in NRC Palo Alto. My current research interests are in the area of personalized information retrieval. I have been focusing on various techniques that integrate user context/background information into the information retrieval framework.

Background
Before joining NRC in June, 2007. I have been working as a graduate student researcher in Prof. Sharad Mehrotra's database group at Dept. of Information and Computer Science, UC Irvine. I received my PhD degree from UC, Irvine in May 2007.
My PhD topic is on managing uncertain spatial information and enabling similarity search for situational awareness applications. I had also worked with Prof. Bing Liu for 3 years,
the main research topic is data mining in large databases. We worked intensively on the system CBA (Classification Based on
Association). The working prototype of CBA has been recognized as a
benchmarking program for the classification systems using association rules.

Education
I graduated from School of Computing,
National Univerisity of Singapore (SoC, NUS) with the First Class Honours in
1998. In Dec, 2000, I received my MSc.degree from the
SoC, NUS, and I received my PhD degree from UC, Irvine in May 2007.
