Computing platforms are facing an evolution step in terms of energy and size due to the emergence of new services and environments, such as smart spaces. The evolution step requires a smooth integration from service level down to platform and component level (software and hardware). It also needs new radical design methods, miniaturization and energy efficiency technologies. The main impact of this research is to increase the operating times of mobile devices and mobile use cases. New use cases in smart spaces should not be prevented by a battery that runs out too fast. In addition, smaller energy consumption results in better sustainability since less energy is required for recharging the batteries and also the batteries can have a longer life. Research topics
