The main goal of this team is to develop internet architecture to be ideal for wireless use. Among other requirements, such internet technology would be energy-efficient in battery-powered devices, it would natively support multiple access interfaces and multiple connection paths, and it would be robust to temporary disruptions in end-to-end connectivity.
In the future, the internet will become a mission-critical backbone for billions of users with different kinds of applications. It should support different business models and usages of varying criticality with as little constraints as possible.
The Future Internet team participates the in the Finnish ICT SHOK Future Internet programme that gets together all the major Finnish ICT companies working on the Internet technologies.
The team also contributes to the Trilogy project in EU 7th Framework Programme.
