By applying the key scalable device architecture and semantic web concepts in a novel way, it is possible to create a common innovation platform for physical environments. Such a platform allows developers to rapidly build and try new applications that merge the personal information and services in nomadic devices with the context information and services in static devices of the environment, in which the nomadic devices happen to be.
One key benefit of this research is to ensure that always the best resources are made available without changing application. Also it allows application innovation without use-case by use-case specific standardization.
