Virtual Office is a strategic research program under Nokia Research Center's Digital Services research theme

Our mission is to make Your Office available where and when you need it.

Our research aims to define and delivery rich mobile office experiences, enabling ad-hoc collaborative team work wherever and whenever needed.

One of the main objectives is to understand better the business processes people are involved in and their roles in daily work activities; and apply technologies to processes in a user centric fashion. Unlike the usage of multiple and separate collaborative technologies for PCs and mobile devices, the program aims at achieving enhanced and unified user experiences with technologies and services

Research Focuses

We employ user centric research to validate and create mobile applications and services for business users. The key research focus areas are:

• ActivePlace: Activity Aware interactive mobile workspaces connecting mobile business users with business and social networks
• Mobile Web office suite with Web Office Services : Enabling mobile business users to run thier business meetings from where ever
• Mobile Business Processes : Re-define existing business processes with a relevant role for mobile and as well as enable mobile centric processes in places where mobile is the only computing devices(emerging markets- India/Africa)
