After Timothy forwarded me the link to the Sports Tracker app this afternoon, I decided to take it for a spin. When I got home, I downloaded it to an E70, did a quick configuration, and got everytihng set up before the sun went down. http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/
I discussed it with Vegas and he indicated that he would be interested in trying it out. Unfortunately, his harness no longer fits, so I had to ductape the LD-1W GPS receiver and the E70 to his standard dog collar. The problem with this is that it can swivel around, so I thought we might have a problem getting GPS signal, but it tended to stay pretty well (GPS and phone settled at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock, respectively) and we were high up on the hill (Bernal Heights, above SF) so there were no problems. Vegas did not mind having the GPS and E70 duct taped to his collar at all. Then again, it's pretty hard to concern him about anything.
User: Vegas the Dog Activity: Sniffing around / chasing toys Duration: 00:35 Distance: 1.99 mi Avg Speed: 3.4 mph Top speed: 20.2 mph
The app is very cool, I think it has a lot of potential and could be extended in some interesting ways. Try it out!

Vegas the Dog certainly deserves one extra juicy bone for enjoying and few tennis balls for chasing and playing around. Go Vegas, go!
