Interaction and User Interfaces

This team does research on interaction technology enablers for multi-modal and multi-device applications and use cases. Studies on tangible interaction are emphasized, like finding solutions for gestural and haptics usage. Also, the team finds knowledge of optimal usage for input and output technologies based on different modalities.

Research topics

• Finding multi-modal, multi-device interaction concepts and UI styles.
• Developing and testing different ideas on combinations of interaction technologies.
• Making research and analyzing human perception capabilities in relation to interaction.
• Building prototypes of multi-modal, multi-device interaction applications.
• Developing design guidelines of usage of different modalities, including cross-modality issues.
• Building development tools for multi-modal, multi-device UI designers.
