Research Interests |
I am interested in automatic processing of text, including information extraction, information retrieval, question answering and semantics. I am also interested in link analysis and graph mining, and in machine learning and its application to text processing problems.

Research Projects |
- Extraction of events from semi-structured and unstructured text. I am interested in automatically processing event announcements (from sources like mailing lists) into database entries. This will allow location-based event recommendation to subscribers. This work is part of the organic indoor localization project led by Prof. Seth Teller at MIT. Unlike GPS localization, the goal of this project is to provide localization services and information about relevant activities indoors. - Extraction of product features from textual reviews. In this work the goal is to process textual review of a product (e.g., cell phone reviews from online sources such as ZDNET) into a structured table of product attributes. In general, this research should allow better availability to the plethora of information available online, and support recommendation of products to users based on their preferences. This is a joint work with Prof. Regina Barzilay at MIT. - I am involved in the 3CPO project. A target application is automatic processing of spoken notes to self into structured calendar entries, to-do items, and reminders. This application is aligned with OVI vision. |
